Banbury Amateur Radio Society exists to foster interest in Amateur Radio and provide opportunities for anyone interested in the hobby to develop their interest further. More information about its aims can be found by clicking the 'Constitution' Link on the left.
BARS is a small but well-established society which draws its members from Banbury and the surrounding area. The membership is currently in the thirties.
BARS actively encourages members to participate and can draw upon a wide range of experienced amateurs to assist in almost every aspect of the hobby.
The club runs classes for the Radio Amateurs Examination to help new members get licenced and on the air.
So if you live in, or near to North Oxfordshire and would like to "have a look at" amateur radio, then feel free to pop along on a Wednesday night and say hello. You can find details about forthcoming meetings by clicking the 'Events Programme' link on the left.

MEETING 16th May. Venue: BARS-Banbury We have just received the N.O.V to use the special call sign for the Queens Jubilee. We will be operating using it at this club meet along with the use of our old valve equipment. So wether it is to reminice or to learn, come along and use your privilages and the new club call sign for the evening. All welcome. G8DCX Events Secretary Foundation Exam STOP PRESS. Venue: BARS-Banbury 15thMay-2012 Foundation Exam Exam cancellation Owing to factors outside the Tutors control the date for the exam has been postponed. A new date will be given shortly. The 17th of May will be changed to a revision evening, to help all improve their knowledge for the exam. G8DCX Lead Tutor. 1st May-2012 MEETING 2nd May. G8DCX Events Secretary 1st May-2012 Foundation License Course and Exam Opportunity Changes to Exam Date For those candidates please note that there are changes to the exam date which will not now be on the afternoon of Sunday the 13th of May but on the evening (7 p.m) of Thursday the 17th of May. The sunday Morning will still be the practical exam. G8DCX. Lead Tutor 17th April-2012 Special Call Signs for the Olympics and the Jubilee Special call signs can be used during this year to reference The London Olympics and The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The club will be applying for these, Queens Jubilee, Olympics, for its own call sign. 17th April-2012 Foundation License Course and Exam Opportunity See the Events calendar on our web site for the course dates in May. Cost (to be paid in full at participant registration, 25th April) £45. This sum covers RSGB/Ofcom Exam fee, book, course materials and meeting room with exam centre costs. Note Instructors and Exam officials, give of their time for free. Course entrants fees must be paid by said date to comply with RSGB rules.
